Significant Employment Achievements in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that his administration has successfully secured employment for 73,346 individuals within just 369 days of taking office.

During the 'Nijukti Mela' (employment fair), where 964 new recruits, primarily junior engineers, received their appointment letters, Majhi stated, "Our government is only one year and four days old. In this brief period, we have appointed 73,346 youths, with 28,346 in government roles and 45,000 in the private sector."

Majhi emphasized the significance of government positions, sharing that he and his ministers were unable to secure such jobs and thus turned to politics instead.

He remarked, "The newly appointed youths are fortunate to find roles in the government sector."

Highlighting the societal value placed on government jobs, he referenced the Hindi film 'Nayak,' where a father prefers a government servant for his daughter over a journalist, illustrating the high regard for public service.

Majhi pointed out that only two percent of Odisha's population holds government jobs, which is why the government is focused on expanding opportunities in the private sector.

He revealed that the state has secured investments totaling Rs 13 lakh crore, which is anticipated to create 12.90 lakh jobs in the private sector.

He stated, "Once these industries are established, a significant number of jobs will be available for our youth."

Referring to the youth as the "pilots of Odisha's development chariot," Majhi expressed his commitment to harnessing their energy and potential for the state's advancement and social welfare.

Among the 964 new recruits, 907 are junior engineers, who are expected to play a crucial role in infrastructure development.

Majhi expressed his hope that these new employees would approach their roles with integrity and dedication.

He advised them, "Always remember, your actions and decisions at the government level must reflect public interest. You are servants of the people."

Looking ahead, Majhi announced plans to recruit 1.5 lakh youths into state service over the next five years, with approximately 65,000 positions to be filled in the first two years. He noted that 28,346 government posts have already been filled, and the age limit for government jobs has been increased from 32 to 42 years.

The event was also attended by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister KC Patra, Works Minister Prithivi Raj Harichandan, Housing and Urban Development Minister KC Mohapatra, and Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Nayak.
