Odisha's BJP Set for Cabinet Expansion: What to Expect?

BJP's Cabinet Expansion on the Horizon in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The BJP in Odisha is preparing to broaden its council of ministers, as announced by the party's state president, Manmohan Samal, on Wednesday.
Samal's remarks came shortly after he resumed his role as the state BJP president for a fourth non-consecutive term.
He indicated that discussions with central leaders regarding the cabinet expansion have already taken place.
Currently, the council can accommodate up to 22 members, but it only consists of 16, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The existing council includes two deputy chief ministers, eight cabinet ministers, and five ministers of state.
Since Majhi's swearing-in on June 12, 2024, six positions have remained unfilled.
Samal also mentioned that efforts are underway to address vacancies in various state-run corporations and boards.
He emphasized the BJP's dedication to enhancing governance and delivering on promises made to the electorate.
Following his announcement, political activity surged, with numerous senior MLAs vying for a position.
BJP sources revealed that the expansion will consider the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections scheduled for next year.
