Odisha Unveils 'Digital Hundi' for Hassle-Free Donations to Jagannath Temple

Introduction of Digital Donation System
Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi introduced the 'Digital Hundi', a new online donation system for the Shree Jagannath Temple located in Puri.
The launch took place at the Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, where Majhi emphasized that this digital initiative will allow devotees to contribute to the temple from the comfort of their homes, whether they are in India or abroad.
Majhi expressed his satisfaction with the announcement, noting that many devotees faced challenges in making donations online. He stated, "Devotees of Lord Jagannath worldwide have struggled to donate to the Puri temple, even when they wished to do so."
With the new digital system, devotees can conveniently make donations using QR codes. "These QR codes will be available on the temple's website. Interested banks can collaborate with the Shri Jagannath Temple administration to set up QR code stations outside the temple," he added.
In addition to the temple, banks are encouraged to display these QR codes in secure locations throughout Puri, including ATM counters and their branches.
Majhi clarified that the primary goal of the Digital Hundi is not merely to increase donations but to enhance the spiritual connection of devotees with the Lord. For instance, during the Rath Yatra, many devotees who cannot visit Puri can still make offerings through this platform.
He expressed hope that the Digital India initiative would benefit Lord Jagannath's followers.
According to official reports, the digital platform has been designed with essential security measures to uphold the integrity of the donation process.
In the past three financial years (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24), the Jagannath Temple has received a total of Rs 113.02 crore in donations.
