Odisha Takes Bold Steps to Boost Edible Oil Production with New Partnerships


Bhubaneswar: In a pivotal effort to enhance self-sufficiency in edible oil production and stimulate rural economic development, the Odisha government has entered into agreements with three prominent oil palm firms on Thursday.


This initiative is part of the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP), a nationwide program designed to boost domestic edible oil output. The Directorate of Horticulture facilitated the signing of these agreements with Patanjali Foods Limited for the Cuttack district, Tummala Agro Products Private Limited for Angul district, and Livpalm Resources Private Limited for Dhenkanal and Jajpur districts.


The primary aim of these collaborations is to establish extensive oil palm farming in the state, addressing the rising demand for edible oils while creating economic prospects in rural communities. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who attended the signing event, highlighted the state's dedication to fostering sustainable agricultural methods and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers. "This initiative will not only broaden oil palm cultivation in Odisha but also aid in increasing edible oil production, creating rural jobs, and supporting local farmers," Singh Deo remarked.
