Safety Measures for School Reopening


Bhubaneswar: In response to a recent increase in COVID-19 infections, the Odisha government announced that schools will implement strict health protocols upon reopening after the summer break.


During a press briefing, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond emphasized the importance of health and safety, stating, "All students and teachers must exercise caution when schools resume operations."


Students exhibiting symptoms such as a cold will be required to wear masks, while those experiencing more severe symptoms will be encouraged to remain at home and self-isolate.


"We will adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the Health Department," the minister confirmed.


He also mentioned that the department will provide specific instructions to schools regarding these measures.


The summer vacation for schools commenced on April 23 and is scheduled to last until June 19.


In the past eight days, Odisha has reported 23 new COVID-19 cases, with four individuals recovering from the virus, while 19 others are currently receiving treatment at home.
