Honoring a Legacy


Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of her 94th birthday, tributes poured in for Nandini Satpathy, the first and only female Chief Minister of Odisha.


A gathering of political figures, civil society members, and admirers convened at her statue located near Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar to honor her remarkable contributions. Attendees laid floral offerings, celebrating her lasting impact on the state.


The tribute saw participation from leaders across various political parties. Notable figures included Akash Dasnayak, the Korei MLA and actor, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das, BJP Vice President Golak Mohapatra, BJD Vice President Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, and Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das. Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray, along with BJD leaders Ashok Chandra Panda, Shashi Bhusan Behera, and Manmath Routray, were also present, alongside prominent journalist Pradyumna Satpathy and editors from local media.


Dasnayak emphasized Satpathy's courageous contributions to society, while Manmath Routray hailed her as a beacon of women's empowerment during a time when such discussions were not prevalent.
