Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, Odisha's Crime Branch apprehended a man for allegedly disseminating a manipulated video of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on social media. The individual, identified as Kishore Kausalya, hails from Rayagada district and is employed at a construction firm in Tikri, according to police reports.


The arrest followed a complaint from a citizen who encountered the misleading content online. The Crime Branch's statement indicated that the complainant asserted the video was altered and circulated with the intent to damage the Chief Minister's reputation and mislead the public. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by the cybercrime unit, which has initiated an investigation into the matter. The police have successfully requested the removal of the video, and further inquiries are ongoing.
