Odisha Police Bust Fake Currency Operation in Bolangir District


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, law enforcement officials apprehended two individuals in Bolangir district, Odisha, for possessing counterfeit currency, according to police reports.


The arrests were made following a tip-off that prompted the Odisha Police's Special Task Force (STF) to conduct a raid in Sikir village, located within the jurisdiction of the Titlagarh police station.


The suspects have been identified as Mohhammad Sabir, aged 45, and Netra Raut, aged 44.


Authorities confiscated fake currency notes totaling a face value of Rs 49,000 from the suspects. The counterfeit notes reportedly exhibit numerous security features that closely resemble those of genuine currency.


Investigations are currently ongoing to trace the origin of the materials used for printing these fake notes.


Additionally, the STF is exploring potential connections to any international counterfeiting syndicates.
