Odisha Government Reassures Public Amid Security Concerns: What You Need to Know

Odisha's Preparedness for Security Challenges
Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, the Odisha government reassured citizens not to be alarmed, emphasizing that the state is fully prepared to manage any potential crisis.
This assurance came from Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari following a meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, which focused on reviewing security measures, especially along the Bay of Bengal coastline.
"There is no reason for concern. Our state is well-prepared to tackle any situation. We are collaborating with the Centre, as well as the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces to ensure the safety of our residents," Pujari informed the media.
He highlighted that robust security protocols have been established at critical sites, including the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located in Chandipur.
Pujari noted that security personnel are on constant alert, and the Chief Minister has instructed all departments to enhance their surveillance and security efforts.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the state's readiness should be significantly increased, leaving no room for oversight.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar mentioned that ongoing intelligence sharing with central agencies is crucial for reinforcing the security of the eastern coastline.
He urged the public to stay vigilant and avoid panic, as police are monitoring drone activities.
ADG (Coastal Security) Arun Bothra stated that Odisha Police maintain regular communication with the Indian Navy and Coast Guard.
"With a coastline stretching 511 kilometers, we have increased our deployments. The state has recruited 142 former Navy personnel as Special Police Officers (SPOs) across 18 marine police stations, and we are conducting thorough sea patrols," he added.
Although these security measures were implemented in response to the India-Pakistan tensions, military operations directors from both nations later agreed to cease all hostilities on land, air, and sea starting at 5 PM on Saturday.
