Odisha Government Approves Development Plan for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Zone

Approval of the Economic Development Project

Bhubaneswar, August 3 - The Odisha government has granted approval for the project proposal report (PPR) aimed at developing the 'Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip City Economic Region' (BKPPR). An official statement revealed that the state-level project monitoring committee (SLPMC), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, endorsed the report and recommended its advancement as an externally aided project (EAP).

According to the statement, this economic zone is part of the first phase of the central government's City Economic Region (CER) initiative, which includes four pilot economic zones across the country.

An initial funding of ₹5,000 crores has been proposed for this project. Of the total estimated budget, 70 percent, amounting to ₹3,500 crores, will be sourced as a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), while the remaining 30 percent, or ₹1,500 crores, will be provided by the central government's CER scheme. The primary goal of this initiative is to develop Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Paradip as an integrated economic zone.

This project aims to enhance investment, industry, tourism, logistics, port-based projects, and job creation.
