Odisha Faces Rising Temperatures as Thunderstorms Diminish

Bhubaneswar: As thundershowers have decreased in Odisha, the state experienced a notable increase in daytime temperatures on Sunday, with Jharsuguda recording the highest at 43.5 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 11 locations across the state reported maximum temperatures reaching or exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Bolangir followed closely as the second hottest area at 42.4 degrees Celsius, with Titilagarh at 42 degrees, Sambalpur at 41.9, Sundargarh at 41.8, and Boudh at 41.5 degrees. Hirakud and Sonepur both recorded 41.3 degrees, while Nuapada reached 41 degrees, Bhawanipatna 40.8 degrees, and Rourkela 40.1 degrees.
Bhubaneswar's temperature was noted at 37.5 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack recorded 40.1 degrees.
The IMD indicated that there would be minimal changes in maximum temperatures over the next three days, followed by a gradual increase of 2-4 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast for Monday, the IMD predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h in the afternoon or evening across several districts, including Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, and Rayagada.
