Odisha CM Warns Students About the Dangers of Terrorism Amidst Rising Tensions

Chief Minister's Message on Education and Responsibility
Bhubaneswar: In light of increasing tensions between India and Pakistan, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed students on Thursday, highlighting the detrimental effects of terrorism. He expressed concern that many young individuals in Pakistan are jeopardizing their futures by engaging in extremist activities.
Speaking at the centenary celebration of Gangadahani Government Advanced High School in Ganjam district, Majhi remarked, "Many children in our neighboring country are squandering their potential by getting involved in terrorism."
He underscored the significance of education and national values, stating, "India requires Jagannath, a symbol of unity and secularism, rather than Jihad. I encourage all students to embrace their education responsibly and avoid being misled by destructive ideologies. We must study diligently, honor our families and communities, and commit ourselves to our nation."
Reflecting on his background as an educator, Majhi emphasized that education transcends mere certification; it is a lifelong journey of personal development. He described schools as sacred spaces for knowledge and character formation.
Majhi asserted that education should not solely serve as a pathway to financial gain but should also cultivate individuals with compassion and humanity.
He encouraged the audience to face life's challenges without fear, stating, "Success is only attainable through perseverance. There are no shortcuts to achievement; hard work is the only route to success." He reiterated that education is the greatest asset one can possess.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's commitment to education, revealing that this year's budget allocates Rs 31,000 crore for school education, marking an 18 percent increase from the previous year.
