Chief Minister's Response to Opposition Critique

Following opposition leader Naveen Patnaik's remark that 'long speeches do not lead to development,' Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi responded on Wednesday, stating that when Patnaik was in office, he often read from prepared speeches instead of engaging directly with the public.

Majhi made these comments while addressing the 'State-Level Development Fair' held to mark the completion of one year of his government on June 12. He remarked, 'Yesterday, the opposition leader mocked my lengthy speeches and the alleged poor performance of the BJP government. What were you (Patnaik) doing? You were reading written speeches. There was no connection with the people. You waved at them for just two minutes and never attended the complaints cell during your 16 years as Chief Minister.'

Additionally, Majhi criticized Patnaik's governance style, claiming that some officials from the Chief Minister's office would visit the complaints cell to gather public grievances.

On Tuesday, Patnaik had accused Majhi's government of focusing more on lengthy speeches and publicity rather than actual development.
