Odisha Chief Minister Expresses Condolences Over Air India Crash Victims
Tragic Air India Incident Claims Lives
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Air India confirmed that the aircraft, which took off from Ahmedabad airport, crashed shortly after departure, resulting in the loss of all 241 individuals on board, who were en route to London.
Majhi took to the social media platform 'X' on Thursday to convey his grief, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic plane accident in Ahmedabad that claimed the life of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.” The Boeing 787-8 was carrying 230 passengers along with 12 crew members.
He further remarked, “Our party has lost a senior leader, and the nation mourns the passing of a politician whose gentle nature and contributions to public life will always be remembered.”
Rupani, aged 68, was known for his calm demeanor and strong administrative style. Majhi added, “May Lord Jagannath provide strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Om Shanti.” Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from August 2016 until September 2021.
