Cold Weather Expected in Odisha

Odisha is set to experience a significant drop in temperatures, causing residents to brace for the cold. According to the India Meteorological Department, nighttime temperatures are predicted to decrease by 1 to 1.5 degrees Celsius over the next four days, starting Tuesday. Reports indicate that several regions in Odisha recorded a decline in temperatures on Wednesday, with over 20 locations reporting minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.


The IMD noted that G. Udaygiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest spot in the state, recording a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius, while Phulbani city registered five degrees Celsius.


In Rourkela and Jharsuguda, the minimum temperatures were recorded at 5.1 degrees and 5.4 degrees Celsius, respectively. Popular tourist destinations in the state, including Daringbadi, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Bhawanipatna, experienced minimum temperatures ranging from seven to eight degrees Celsius.


In the capital city of Bhubaneswar, the temperature was noted at 10.2 degrees Celsius. The weather department has indicated that the ongoing flow of dry and cold westerly winds is contributing to the drop in temperatures, with expectations of further intensification in the coming days. Additionally, warnings for dense fog have been issued for several areas across the state.
