Odia Students in Jammu: Safe Return Plans Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

Bhubaneswar: In light of increasing military tensions between India and Pakistan, the government is facilitating the safe return of Odia students from Jammu. This decision comes after an evacuation directive was issued for the Central Sanskrit University following a drone strike from Pakistan on Thursday night.
To support the students, the Odisha government has established a 24-hour control room at the Odisha Resident Commission located in New Delhi. Families can reach out for assistance through helpline numbers 7428135044 and 011-24679201.
Additionally, a dedicated five-member team has been dispatched to manage and oversee the movement of students.
The Indian Ministry of Defence reported that the Indian Air Force effectively neutralized missile threats aimed at 15 cities, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat, late Wednesday and early Thursday. The interception was carried out using the Russian-made S-400 air defense systems, referred to as the 'Sudarsan Chakra' in India. Concurrently, Israeli-made Harpy drones targeted various locations within Pakistan.
Among the confirmed targets destroyed was Pakistan’s HQ-9 air defense system located in Lahore. The drone strikes also inflicted damage on the cricket stadium in Rawalpindi, as stated by the Ministry of Defence.
The coordinated operation by the Indian armed forces, named Operation Sindoor, focused on strategic sites in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Bahawalpur. The Indian Navy's warship INS Vikrant also launched missiles at the port city of Karachi from the Arabian Sea.
During an all-party meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reported that over 100 Pakistani terrorists were eliminated in retaliation for the recent attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 Hindu tourists.
