Panneerselvam Expresses Optimism for DMK Alliance

O. Panneerselvam, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the DMK candidate from the Bodinayakanur constituency, expressed strong confidence in the performance of his alliance during the ongoing state assembly elections on April 23. Speaking to reporters in Theni, he noted, "I can sense enthusiasm among the people for our alliance... I am certain that DMK leader M.K. Stalin will return to power for a second term. I firmly believe our coalition will secure over 200 seats in this election."


Voting Trends and Statistics

Earlier on Thursday, Panneerselvam cast his vote at the Seventh Day Nursery and Primary School located on South Car Street in Ward No. 23, Periyakulam, accompanied by family members. Having been associated with the AIADMK for a long time, he is now contesting as a DMK candidate following a recent political reorganization. According to the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout in Tamil Nadu reached 37.57% by 11 AM.


Regional Voting Percentages

Tiruppur district recorded the highest voter turnout at 42.45%, followed by Namakkal at 41.41% and Erode at 41.00%. Chennai saw a turnout of 35.47%, Coimbatore 38.62%, and Madurai 36.22%, while the lowest turnout was in Nilgiri at 32.62%. The Tamil Nadu assembly elections are being conducted in a single phase, coinciding with the first phase of voting in West Bengal, which commenced under tight security on April 23. Voting in both states will conclude at 6:00 PM, with the second phase of voting in West Bengal scheduled for April 29, and counting of votes in both states set for May 4.
