In a significant move as part of the ongoing Anti-Chitta Campaign, the Nurpur Police have ramped up efforts against the financial operations of drug traffickers, resulting in the seizure of assets worth ₹48.30 lakh that were allegedly obtained through illegal drug activities.
This operation targeted Shamsher Singh, the son of Gurdial Singh, who resides in Ward No. 09, Damtal, within the Kangra district. Under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, authorities have confiscated assets totaling ₹48,30,997.
According to an order issued on October 22, 2026, by the Competent Authority and Administrator in New Delhi, properties were forfeited under Sections 68-I(1) and 68-I(3) of the NDPS Act, and are now vested in the government free from any encumbrances:
- A double-storey residential house with a basement situated in Village Channi, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra, valued at ₹45,90,557.
- Cash amounting to ₹2,40,440, identified as proceeds allegedly derived from illicit narcotics trafficking.
To further the legal proceedings, the Damtal Police Station issued a formal possession order to the accused on October 29, 2026, under Section 68-U of the NDPS Act. This order mandates the accused to surrender possession of the forfeited property to the relevant authorities. Should there be non-compliance within the specified timeframe, the competent authority is authorized to take possession as per legal provisions.
Police officials have indicated that the Anti-Chitta Campaign extends beyond merely seizing narcotics and apprehending offenders. It also aims to identify, investigate, and confiscate properties obtained through the illegal drug trade, thereby targeting the economic underpinnings of narcotics networks.
The Nurpur Police have reiterated their commitment to enforcing strict legal measures against those involved in the trafficking of Chitta and other narcotic substances. Officials have stressed that assets and wealth acquired illegally through drug trafficking will face thorough legal examination.
The police district has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a drug-free society and completely eradicating narcotics trafficking in the area.
