Nurpur Police Seize Heroin in Drug Trafficking Crackdown

Police Operation Against Drug Trafficking

In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police District has apprehended two suspects and confiscated 2.3 grams of heroin (chitta).


Incident Overview: While conducting patrols in the Nagawari region near Pakka Tiala, officers from the Kandwal Police Post observed two individuals behaving suspiciously. Upon noticing the police presence, one suspect discarded a packet from his pocket and both attempted to flee. The police intervened based on their suspicious behavior and conducted a search of the discarded packet in front of independent witnesses.


The search resulted in the discovery of 2.3 grams of heroin/chitta. The individuals were identified as Sunil Singh (28), son of Amrik Singh, and Arvind Singh (38), son of Madan Singh, both hailing from Bari village in Fatehpur Tehsil, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. They were taken into custody but later released on bail following legal protocols.


Legal Proceedings: An FIR (No. 198/2026) has been filed at the Nurpur Police Station under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. The investigation is currently ongoing.
