Following actionable intelligence, the CIA Nurpur team detained two suspects found in possession of 676 grams of charas (cannabis resin), highlighting the district's ongoing commitment to eliminating narcotics.
Details of the Operation
On the evening of September 13, 2026, while conducting regular patrols in the Lab Chowk area, the CIA Nurpur team received credible information regarding two individuals involved in drug transactions near the Shiv Temple in Kaihriyan village.
Acting swiftly, the police, along with independent witnesses, intercepted the suspects shortly after they left the temple. A search of one suspect's bag revealed 676 grams of charas, which was subsequently sealed and secured by the police.
Identities of the Suspects
- Kumar Chand (37 years), from Bhulang village, Post Office Sudhar, Tehsil Paddar, District Mandi.
- Rakesh Singh alias Lucky (52 years), from Kaihriyan village, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra.
Both individuals were apprehended at the scene.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
The confiscated drugs were officially seized, and a First Information Report (FIR No. 175/2026) was filed at the Jawali Police Station under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
