Nurpur Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign with New Phase

In response to directives from the state government, the Nurpur Police have initiated Phase-II of their 'Anti-Chitta Campaign', focusing on a more robust approach to combat drug abuse and enhance public awareness.

Special teams, which include police, administrative, and health officials, conducted thorough inspections in key markets and rural regions to ensure adherence to the COTPA Act. Legal measures were enforced against those who violated regulations, with shopkeepers reminded that selling tobacco products within 100 yards of schools is strictly forbidden. Additionally, they were cautioned that selling cigarettes or bidis to minors constitutes a serious offense.

At the panchayat level, awareness sessions were held, engaging local leaders and youth in discussions about the dangers of narcotics. Residents were urged to stay alert to suspicious activities and to guide the youth towards healthier choices.

The Nurpur Police have called on the community to actively engage in this initiative and report any illegal activities. Authorities have guaranteed that the identities of informants will remain confidential.
