Police Operation Leads to Arrests

In a significant move as part of its ongoing anti-drug initiative, the Nurpur Police apprehended four individuals after seizing 4.24 grams of heroin (chitta) during a routine checkpoint operation. Authorities also confiscated the Alto vehicle involved in the drug trafficking.


Details of the Incident


This morning at approximately 7:25 AM, a police unit was performing standard checks near Chakki Pul, Kandwal. They halted a black Alto car (registration number HP73A‑1965) for inspection. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 4.24 grams of heroin hidden inside.


Identifying the Suspects


The four suspects are from the Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh:



  1. Darvesh Nath, son of Mahindar, from Chukrasa village, PO Rari, Tehsil & District Chamba.

  2. Kamlesh Kumar, son of Ranjit Singh, from Kariya, Tehsil & District Chamba.

  3. Nitin Singh, son of Kapoor Singh, from Gurar village, PO Rakh, Tehsil & District Chamba.

  4. Vikas Kumar, son of Raj Kumar, from Kariya, Tehsil & District Chamba.


Legal Proceedings Initiated


An FIR (No. 137/2026) has been filed at the Nurpur Police Station under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act. The seized narcotics and vehicle are now in police custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
