Police Operation Targets Drug Trafficking

In a significant move against drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police executed a successful operation on January 12, 2026. During a checkpoint at Bhadwar, law enforcement officials detained Vaibhav, also known as Aman, who is the son of Pramod Singh and hails from the village of Tharot in the Shahpur tehsil of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.
Authorities seized 9 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as chitta, from his possession. A case has been filed against him under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Nurpur Police Station. The suspect has been taken into custody, and further inquiries are ongoing.
Police sources revealed that the arrested individual has a history of drug offenses. Previously, he was charged at the Dharamshala Police Station for possessing 6.5 grams of heroin under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Officials emphasized that this operation underscores the district police's dedication to combating the drug trade and protecting the youth from the dangers of substance abuse.
