Significant Drug Trafficking Operation in Nurpur

In a notable achievement during the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police successfully apprehended two suspects and confiscated narcotics along with a vehicle in a swift operation conducted in the Kandwal region.


Following a tip-off, the CIA Nurpur team executed a rapid raid, capturing the two suspects in the act. The individuals have been identified as:



  • Vivek Mahajan, son of Tarsem Lal, hailing from village Basa, Post Office Raja Ka Bagh, Tehsil Nurpur.

  • Vikas Chaudhary, son of Sukhdev Singh, residing in village Cinema Hall, Post Office Jasur, Tehsil Nurpur.


During the operation, law enforcement recovered 5.72 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession. Additionally, the vehicle involved, a Kia Sonet (Registration No. HP-38H-9936), was also seized.


The arrests occurred within the jurisdiction of the Nurpur Police Station, and a case has been filed under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. Both suspects are currently in custody.


Authorities indicated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the forward and backward linkages of the drug network—identifying the source of the narcotics and their intended recipients.


Reiterating their commitment, the Nurpur Police highlighted their “zero tolerance” policy against drug trafficking, vowing to persist in their efforts to safeguard the community and youth from the dangers of narcotics. They also urged citizens to report any information related to drug activities to assist in their crackdown.
