NTA Addresses NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak Allegations
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially dismissed a video circulating on social media that falsely claims the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper was leaked.
In a statement posted on X, the agency confirmed that the exam was executed successfully with stringent security measures in place.
The NTA stated, "Our attention has been drawn to a fabricated video regarding NEET (UG) 2026. This video is misleading, and the assertions made within it are untrue."
The agency emphasized, "The video is indeed FAKE, and the claims it presents are false."
They further noted that creating and spreading such misinformation to deceive or panic students constitutes a serious offense.
The NTA, in collaboration with I4C and law enforcement, is actively pursuing those responsible for this misleading content.
The agency urged students, parents, and the public to rely solely on the official website and verified social media accounts for accurate information, advising against sharing such misleading material.
"Our over 20 lakh aspirants deserve a peaceful and fair examination process," the NTA stated.
More than 20 lakh medical candidates participated in the NEET re-examination on Sunday after the initial test was canceled due to paper leaks, which sparked significant public outcry.
Abhishek Singh, the Director General of NTA, acknowledged the challenges faced due to the paper leak and highlighted the collaborative efforts that enabled the swift organization of the re-exam.
According to the NTA, over 20 lakh candidates took the NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam at 5,440 centers across India and 14 international locations, with the test available in 13 languages, including Hindi and English.
"This was not just the NTA's effort; it was a nationwide collaboration – a network of individuals who ensured that each candidate could focus solely on their exam that day," the agency remarked.
"Approximately 7 lakh officials, including police teams, observers, and examination staff, were mobilized throughout India to facilitate this examination, completed in a record 37 days. We are particularly thankful to the academic experts who dedicated their time to create multiple sets of question papers," the NTA added.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the arrangements for the re-examination at the NTA headquarters in Okhla, Delhi.
The NTA informed the minister about the logistical and technical measures implemented to ensure the examination was conducted efficiently and transparently, as stated by the Ministry of Education.
The NTA also highlighted that extensive provisions were made for all candidates, including over 10,000 individuals with disabilities.
"Special accommodations were arranged for around 81 candidates with medical conditions, including a child recovering from a road accident and another undergoing chemotherapy, both determined to take the exam they had prepared for years," the agency noted.
To maintain security, Aadhaar-based biometric and facial recognition, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and two-layer frisking with state police support were utilized at examination centers.
"National-level command and control centers for CCTV monitoring were established at the NTA, the Ministry of Education, 34 Centrally Funded Institutions, and at District Collectorates," the agency explained.
"There were minor incidents involving individuals presenting incorrect or forged admit cards, as well as attempts at impersonation. Some individuals attempted to bring mobile phones into the examination, but these efforts were thwarted due to the security measures in place," NTA DG Abhishek Singh stated.
While investigations into the alleged paper leak continue, the newly formed Cockroach Janta Party, led by Abhijeet Dipke, has been organizing protests nationwide, calling for the resignation of the education minister.
The NTA confirmed that the examination's conduct relied on the support of the Central Armed Police Forces and various central ministries.
