Protest for Student Union Elections in Jaipur

In Rajasthan, three members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) climbed a water tank in Jaipur on Thursday morning to demand the reinstatement of student union elections. The protesters also called for the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged police violence against demonstrators in Delhi. The activists, identified as Vijay Pal Kudi, Viona Jat, and Koshin Khan, ascended the tall water tank located near Gandhi Nagar railway station.

Seated behind the safety railing on the maintenance platform surrounding the tank, they displayed banners advocating for the restoration of student union elections. A district administration official attempted to negotiate with the protesters over the phone, urging them to come down, but they refused, insisting that they would continue their protest until their demands were met. A significant number of NSUI supporters gathered at the site to back the demonstrators.

To maintain law and order, police forces were deployed in the area. Officials are making ongoing efforts to safely bring the protesters down. The NSUI activists released a video message stating that their protest would persist until their demands are fulfilled.

In the video, Viona Jat expressed that student union elections have not been held in the state for a considerable time.
