NRAI Celebrates 75 Years with Ambitious Initiatives for Indian Shooting
Historic 75th Anniversary Celebration
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) recently celebrated a significant milestone by launching its 75th anniversary festivities. The event was attended by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, along with various dignitaries and athletes. This occasion also served to promote the Shooting League of India (SLI), emphasizing the future aspirations of Indian shooting.
New Initiatives and Commemorative Logo
During the celebrations, NRAI introduced a special logo to commemorate its 75 years of excellence in shooting sports. Additionally, the organization announced an extensive grassroots initiative aimed at engaging 750,000 school and college students in shooting before the 2028 Olympics through a practical '10-shot experience'.
This program will be implemented across various states and districts in partnership with institutions like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), universities, and local school boards. The goal is to foster awareness and participation at the grassroots level, helping to discover and motivate the next generation of shooters.
Launch of the NRAI Athlete App
The event also marked the launch of the NRAI Athlete App, a groundbreaking digital platform that establishes NRAI as India's first fully digitized sports federation. This app will function as a comprehensive ecosystem for managing athletes, facilitating the onboarding and registration of 750,000 youth participants in the grassroots program, issuing certificates, maintaining records, and tracking the performances of elite shooters.

In his address, Mandaviya remarked, "As the NRAI celebrates 75 years, it is inspiring to witness Indian shooting embracing innovation and a forward-thinking approach through initiatives like the Athlete App and grassroots outreach. NRAI President Kalikesh Singh Deo added, "This milestone is not just about our past but also about shaping the future of Indian shooting. Our aim is to make the sport more accessible and engaging for the youth. Through grassroots initiatives and the Athlete App, we are laying the groundwork for a more inclusive sporting environment in India."
NRAI Secretary General Pawankumar Singh emphasized the importance of this anniversary, stating, "This year-long celebration reflects our ambition. We are focused on creating pathways for talent identification and athlete development, leveraging technology through the Athlete App, and enhancing fan engagement through the Shooting League of India."

The event also underscored the enthusiasm surrounding the Shooting League of India, which is set to be India's first franchise-based professional shooting league. This league aims to transform the sport into a more engaging experience for fans.
