Boko, April 7: The National People’s Party (NPP) celebrated a significant milestone in the Boko-Chhaygaon constituency with a large election rally held at the Shanti-Nijora Club ground in Bamunigaon. Meghalaya's Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, along with numerous ministers, legislators, and senior party officials, rallied in support of their candidate, Ganseng B Sangma, receiving an overwhelming response from the public.

Established in 2013 by former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma under the motto ‘One Voice, One Northeast’, the NPP has been steadily growing its presence throughout the region.

During his address, Conrad Sangma remarked, “The seed that PA Sangma planted in Meghalaya 14 years ago has now flourished into a tree that provides shelter to the entire Northeast. His vision of uniting all communities under a single platform is coming to fruition.”

The Chief Minister criticized national parties for exploiting ethnic divisions for political advantage, asserting that the NPP is the only party committed to uniting diverse communities. He encouraged voters to back Ganseng B Sangma, describing him as a humble, dedicated, and sincere candidate who represents the party’s goal of inclusive development. “If Ganseng is elected as MLA, it will herald a new era for NPP in Assam,” he stated.

Former Congress member Johnson J. Sangma, now part of the NPP, highlighted the party's symbol—a book—signifying education as the foundation of society. Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and Phulbari MLA Abu Taher Mondal urged voters to support Ganseng B Sangma on April 9, emphasizing education as a means of empowerment.

The rally featured speeches from various leaders, including Meghalaya Minister Timothy D Shira, NPP national vice-president and former Manipur Speaker I Hemochandra Singh, along with legislators such as Sanjay Sangma, Marthon Sangma, Pongseng Marak, Rupert Momin, and Jim Sangma. They reiterated PA Sangma’s vision for a robust and united Northeast, calling on voters to provide a strong mandate.

In his brief speech, Ganseng B Sangma promised dedicated service, stating, “I may speak for one minute, but I will work for 20.” The event concluded with remarks from Ramrai MLA RG Momin, as party leaders and supporters expressed optimism about NPP’s expanding influence in Assam.
