Police Encounter Leads to Arrest of Notorious Criminal
A notorious criminal, accused of cattle slaughter, has been apprehended following an encounter with law enforcement in the Lisadi Gate area of Meerut district. Authorities disclosed this information on Saturday.
The police identified the injured suspect as Islamuddin, also known as Islu, a resident of the Jai village in the Bhawanpur police jurisdiction. During the encounter, officers seized an illegal firearm, cartridges, a sharp weapon, and an unregistered motorcycle from his possession.
Islu has a significant criminal record, with a total of 33 cases registered against him at the Bhawanpur police station, including charges related to cattle slaughter, attempted murder, robbery, organized crime, and violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The encounter occurred on Friday night when police were conducting checks on suspicious vehicles along the New Madin Road near Four Pillars in the Lisadi Gate area. When officers attempted to stop a motorcycle rider, he tried to flee and opened fire on the police.
In response, the police fired back in self-defense, injuring the suspect. He has since been transported to the district hospital for medical treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.
