Complete Electric Operation for Rajdhani Express

Guwahati, June 28: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully implemented full electric traction for the 12423/12424 Dibrugarh-New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express.

According to NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, this advancement signifies a significant milestone in Indian Railways' initiative towards complete electrification and minimizing carbon emissions. The Rajdhani Express now operates entirely on electric power, showcasing NFR's dedication to enhancing railway infrastructure in the Northeast.

The transition to a fully electrified route was made feasible by the recent completion of electrification in the remaining segments of the Dibrugarh-Tinsukia-Lumding-Guwahati line. This shift to electric operation not only boosts efficiency but also shortens travel times, reduces operational expenses, and promotes environmental sustainability, Sharma added.

The New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express began its electric traction operations on June 25.

In line with sustainable transport initiatives, several other key trains linking Eastern and North Eastern India are also moving towards electric traction, Sharma noted.
