Introduction of Electric Buses in Noida

The Noida Authority is gearing up to introduce 500 electric buses aimed at enhancing public transportation in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway region. Officials have indicated that the project is estimated to cost around Rs 675 crore and is expected to be completed within a span of 250 days. The buses will be deployed in phases.

Details of the Electric Bus Service

Following the tender process, two private firms have been selected to manage the electric bus service, which will operate across 25 routes. These routes will cover significant inner-city areas and provide connectivity to the Noida International Airport (Jewar). Some of the proposed routes include Shashi Chowk to Ace City, Kasna Village to Sharda University, and Dadri to Gautam Buddha University via Kasna.

Operational Costs and Revenue

Officials have also mentioned that the operational cost of the project is projected to be approximately Rs 370 crore annually, while the expected revenue from rent and advertising is around Rs 145 crore.

New Expressway to Alleviate Traffic Issues

In addition to the electric buses, a new expressway is set to be constructed to alleviate travel time and address traffic concerns in the region. The Central Government has approved a 30 km expressway that will link Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport. This new route will run parallel to the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway along the Yamuna river, connecting Pushta Road to both the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway. This initiative was proposed by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and has received approval from Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
