Noida Kings Secure Playoff Position

In a thrilling encounter at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium, the Noida Kings triumphed over the Meerut Mavericks by five wickets, ensuring their place in the UP T20 League 2026 playoffs. This match, which was affected by rain, marked a significant moment as it handed the Mavericks their first defeat of the season.

Rain Disrupts Mavericks' Innings

The match faced severe weather interruptions, leading to a reduction to a 15-over format. After winning the toss, Meerut's captain Divyansh Joshi chose to bat first. However, just after two balls and five runs, heavy rain halted play. Thanks to the ground staff's efforts, the match was eventually shortened to a five-over contest.

Upon resuming, Swastik Chikara aimed for a quick start but was dismissed for 14 runs off 9 balls, thanks to a sharp stumping by wicketkeeper Aditya Sharma off Prashant Veer's bowling. The standout performer was Shiva Singh, who delivered a remarkable bowling performance, achieving a hat-trick across two overs and finishing with impressive figures of 5 wickets for just 6 runs. This achievement makes him the second bowler in UP T20 League history to secure a hat-trick, following Kartik Tyagi, and it is also the first hat-trick of the current season. The Mavericks could only muster 33 runs for 7 wickets in their five overs.

Noida Kings Overcome Early Setbacks

According to the DLS method, the Noida Kings were tasked with chasing down a target of 35 runs. The innings began with a hiccup as opener Madhav Kaushik was dismissed in the first over by Aarush Goel. However, Impact Player Ravi Singh quickly turned the tide, scoring 17 runs off just 6 balls, including two consecutive sixes off Nadeem in the second over. Nadeem responded by taking three wickets in the next four deliveries, adding tension to the match.

Ansh Dwivedi then dismissed Shiva Singh in the fourth over. Despite the loss of wickets, the required run rate remained manageable, and the Noida Kings successfully reached their target in just 3.3 overs, securing a five-wicket victory.

Noida Kings Confirm Playoff Qualification

With this victory, the Noida Kings concluded their league stage with a total of 10 points, achieving five wins and five losses in their ten matches. They became the third team to qualify for the playoffs, joining the Meerut Mavericks and Lucknow Falcons, and are now gearing up for the Eliminator match.
