Inauguration of Noida International Airport

The Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 30, marking a significant milestone for aviation in the National Capital Region (NCR). Flight operations are anticipated to commence within 45 days post-inauguration, connecting at least ten major cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, in its initial phase. Central Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced on Thursday that the airport's inauguration will take place on October 30, 2025, with operational flights expected to begin shortly thereafter.

Airport Capacity and Connectivity

The first phase of the airport will feature one runway and a terminal capable of accommodating 12 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 70 million passengers across four phases. Located 75 kilometers from Delhi, it will serve as the second international airport in the NCR, following Indira Gandhi International Airport, enhancing connectivity for western Uttar Pradesh. The airport is expected to become a strategic hub for cargo operations, logistics, and economic development.

Infrastructure and Development

The airport will be linked by six roads, a rapid rail-metro system, and pod taxis, and will feature a CAT-III B Instrument Landing System for operations in low visibility. Developed through a public-private partnership between the Uttar Pradesh government and Zurich Airport International AG, the Jewar Airport is projected to stimulate real estate development and create approximately 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. It aims to alleviate pressure on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and promote regional aviation.
