Noida International Airport Set to Open: A New Era for Uttar Pradesh and NCR

Inauguration of Noida International Airport

On March 28, the inauguration of the first phase of Noida International Airport will mark a significant milestone for Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR). This development is anticipated to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate business growth. The new airport is expected to alleviate congestion at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, which currently handles a substantial portion of air traffic in the area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared on X that March 28 will be a crucial day for the residents of Uttar Pradesh and NCR. He emphasized that Noida International Airport is one of the country's key green infrastructure projects aimed at expanding aviation capacity and supporting economic growth. Modi noted that this facility will promote trade and connectivity while reducing crowding at IGI Airport.

Beyond passenger services, the airport is expected to play a vital role in strengthening logistics. Modi further mentioned that the airport will feature a robust cargo system, enhancing the logistics sector. The highly anticipated first phase of Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on Saturday, March 28, marking a significant achievement in India's aviation infrastructure. This airport will be the second international airport serving the Delhi-NCR region, following IGI Airport, thereby boosting both regional and global connectivity.

Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, this airport is designed to work in conjunction with IGI Airport to reduce congestion and increase passenger capacity. Developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crores, the initial phase is set to accommodate 12 million passengers annually, with the potential to expand to 70 million. The facility includes a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling large aircraft, advanced navigation systems, and airfield lighting for round-the-clock operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has granted it a public use airport license, ensuring operations can continue in all weather conditions.
