Revocation of Approval for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has rescinded the approval granted to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence located in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, due to non-compliance with minimum standards.

On Tuesday, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) issued an order stating that all students who secure admission to the college during the counseling for the academic year 2025-26 will be accommodated in additional seats (supernumerary) at other medical institutions in the Union Territory, as authorized by the competent authority.

This decision ensures that no student will lose their MBBS seat due to the revocation of approval. Instead, they will be adjusted in other recognized medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to their regular sanctioned admissions. The order was prompted by findings of non-compliance during a surprise inspection. The NMC's decision is effective immediately.
