Nitish Kumar's Slip of Tongue During Modi's Visit Raises Eyebrows

During a public gathering in Rohtas, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar mistakenly referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, prompting a quick correction. This slip has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about Kumar's health and ability to govern. He praised Modi's contributions to the state and urged the audience to honor him. Kumar also touched on the central budget's provisions for Bihar and the long-standing demand for a caste census, subtly criticizing the opposition for missing their chance while in power. This incident adds to ongoing concerns about Kumar's public conduct and leadership capabilities.

Nitish Kumar's Slip of Tongue During Modi's Visit Raises Eyebrows

A Notable Blunder by Bihar's Chief Minister

Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a notable error on Friday while addressing a gathering in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It appeared that he momentarily forgot Modi's name, but he quickly corrected himself. Speaking at a public meeting in Rohtas district, Kumar mistakenly referred to Modi alongside former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Realizing his mistake, he promptly attempted to regain composure and urged the audience to stand and pay their respects to Modi.

Kumar, who has been an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since the 1990s, remarked, 'Just like the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narendra Modi ji is also doing a lot for our state. Let us all honor him.' He called out loudly, 'Everyone stand up, come on, everyone stand up.' As soon as he said this, the atmosphere of the gathering shifted, and those present quickly rose to their feet to listen to Modi.

Although Kumar had previously distanced himself from the BJP, he has since rejoined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and now asserts that he is back for good. The Janata Dal (United) leader also referenced this year's central budget, which included special provisions for Bihar, such as the establishment of a 'Makhana Board' and airport developments. Kumar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for agreeing to the caste census, stating, 'This is a significant matter. We have been demanding this for a long time... I urge everyone present to stand and honor him.'

In a veiled reference to the opposition led by Congress, Kumar noted, 'Some parties are talking a lot about the caste census. They had an opportunity while in power, which they squandered.'

This incident adds to the growing list of concerns regarding Kumar's public behavior and health. Opposition leaders, including his main rival and RJD legislator Tejashwi Yadav, have raised questions about his health and his capability to continue governing the state.
