Nitish Kumar's Congratulations to Suvendu Adhikari

On Saturday, Nitish Kumar, a member of the Rajya Sabha and leader of the Janata Dal (United), extended his congratulations to Suvendu Adhikari following his swearing-in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Kumar expressed confidence that Adhikari's leadership would accelerate the state's development. In a post on X, he stated, “Heartfelt wishes to Mr. Suvendu Adhikari on taking the oath as the honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal. I believe your leadership will provide a new direction to the aspirations of the people and further enhance development in the state.”


Prime Minister Modi's Acknowledgment

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated the BJP leaders who took oath as ministers in the new West Bengal government, including Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Khudiram Tudu, and Nishith Pramanik. He remarked, “These leaders have worked tirelessly at the grassroots level and served the public. I am confident that they will strengthen the path of development in West Bengal as ministers.”


Ceremony Highlights

After the swearing-in ceremony, Prime Minister Modi met with the families of BJP workers Debasis Mandal, Soumitra Ghoshal, and Anand Paul, who were martyred. The ceremony was officiated by Governor R.N. Ravi, with the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several senior BJP leaders.


BJP's Victory in West Bengal

The BJP achieved a remarkable victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, winning 207 seats and ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress. Adhikari defeated former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur constituency by over 15,000 votes and retained control of the Nandigram seat.
