Nitin Nabin Takes Charge as BJP's National President

On Tuesday, Nitin Nabin, a prominent leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party, was elected as the national president of the party, succeeding JP Nadda, who is currently a Union minister.

K Laxman, who oversaw the BJP's organizational elections, presented the election certificate to Nabin. At 45 years old, he has made history as the youngest individual to lead the BJP.

The election event in Delhi was attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior leaders from the BJP.

During the event, Modi emphasized that Nabin's role extends beyond managing the BJP; he will also be tasked with fostering collaboration among the members of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Modi remarked, “In party matters, I am a worker, and he [Nabin] is my boss.”

The Prime Minister asserted that the election process was executed in a completely democratic fashion.

Nabin had previously been appointed as the BJP's national working president on December 14. At that time, he was serving as a minister overseeing road construction and urban development in the Bihar government, but he stepped down from his ministerial role following his new appointment.

Born on May 23, 1980, Nabin is the son of former MLA Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha. He first entered the Bihar Assembly by winning a bye-election in 2006 for the Patna West constituency. He later secured victory in the Bankipur seat in Patna during the elections of 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025.

JP Nadda had assumed the presidency of the BJP from Amit Shah in January 2020. His term was initially set to conclude in 2024 but was extended due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
