Nitin Gadkari Unveils ₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass for Hassle-Free Highway Travel

Introduction of the FASTag Annual Pass
On Wednesday, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000. He shared this news on X, highlighting it as a significant advancement towards easier highway travel. The initiative is set to commence on August 15 and will remain valid for one year from activation or until 200 trips are completed, whichever occurs first. This program is specifically tailored for non-commercial private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans.
Details of the Annual Pass
Gadkari stated: "The Annual Pass will facilitate seamless and economical travel across National Highways nationwide. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be accessible via the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH."
This new policy aims to resolve long-standing issues related to toll plazas within a 60 km radius, simplifying toll payments through a single, cost-effective transaction. The Annual Pass is designed to reduce wait times, alleviate congestion, and minimize disputes at toll booths, ultimately providing a quicker and smoother travel experience for countless private vehicle owners.
Benefits of the Annual Toll Pass
With the introduction of this system, travelers can pay ₹3,000 annually for unlimited access to highways. This pass allows users unrestricted travel across all national highways, state highways, and expressways, eliminating the need for frequent FASTag recharges or monitoring toll deductions during each journey.
Earlier this year, Gadkari emphasized that National Highways are vital national assets, and the government is committed to improving their quality and safety. He mentioned, "We have implemented measures to hold contractors accountable for enhancing construction quality and improving transparency in our processes," during a stakeholder consultation workshop organized by the National Highways Authority of India.
