Nitin Gadkari Boosts Jharkhand's Infrastructure with Major Road Projects
Significant Infrastructure Developments in Jharkhand
New Delhi, January 7, 2026: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has taken a significant step towards enhancing Jharkhand's infrastructure. During a recent high-level meeting held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, discussions focused on several key road projects in Jharkhand and proposals for constructing a bridge over the Ganges River. The minister has given the green light for these initiatives, which are expected to accelerate connectivity and industrial growth in the state.
The meeting primarily emphasized the construction of four-lane and six-lane roads in the missing link areas of Jharkhand. Additionally, instructions were issued to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the bridge over the Ganges River, connecting Rajmahal in Sahibganj district to Manikchak in West Bengal. This bridge will enhance connectivity in Eastern India and improve Jharkhand's links with neighboring states.
Minister Gadkari stated that an improved road network would not only expedite industrial and economic development in Jharkhand but also benefit the entire eastern region of India. He urged the state government to upload proposals related to mining, industry, and tourism projects on the PM Gati Shakti portal for swift approvals. He also directed the prompt resolution of pending issues related to land acquisition and forest clearances.
Previously, the central government had approved road projects worth thousands of crores in Jharkhand, but this new initiative is expected to bring fresh hope for development in the state's underdeveloped areas. Experts believe that these projects will create jobs and promote trade and tourism.
