Nishant Kumar to Officially Join JD(U): A New Era in Bihar Politics
Nishant Kumar's Entry into JD(U)
Patna: The son of Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Nishant Kumar, is poised to officially join the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday, signaling a significant shift in the party's leadership dynamics, according to sources.
His induction is set to occur at the party's headquarters, where he will be joined by prominent leaders, ministers, and elected representatives.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of Nitish Kumar submitting his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for March 16, marking a pivotal moment in Bihar's political landscape and potentially concluding his lengthy tenure as the state's chief minister.
On Friday, Nishant Kumar engaged with party MLAs and MLCs at the residence of Sanjay Jha, the JD(U) national working president, where he elaborated on his future political strategies. Sources indicate that his formal entry into active politics will commence with his joining the JD(U) on Sunday.
Only Sharvan Kumar, a senior JD(U) minister, attended the meeting, as per another party insider.
During the meeting, JD(U) legislators expressed their concerns to Nitish Kumar regarding his decision to transition to Delhi as a Rajya Sabha MP, yet they found comfort in the prospect of Nishant's political debut.
Members of the party's legislative bodies and Parliament, who were surprised by the JD(U) chief's sudden decision, had the chance to engage with him during a meeting at the Chief Minister's residence on Friday evening.
Nitish Kumar reassured lawmakers that his decision was made independently and not under any external pressure. He also committed to remaining accessible to party workers in Bihar for guidance, as stated by state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary after the meeting.
In response to inquiries, he confirmed that the Chief Minister has approved Nishant's entry into the party.
