Nine Students from Bijapur Achieve Success in NEET-UG 2026 Re-Examination
Significant Achievement for Bijapur District
On July 27, a remarkable achievement was recorded in Bijapur district, once a stronghold of Maoists, as nine students successfully passed the re-examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. This accomplishment is being celebrated as a significant milestone for the local community. According to officials, most of these successful candidates hail from families of farmers or daily wage laborers.
These students were part of a coaching initiative run by the district administration aimed at preparing talented individuals from underprivileged areas for competitive exams across various fields.
All nine students were enrolled in the residential coaching center 'Chhoo Lo Aasman,' where local learners receive training for competitive examinations. Officials noted that this success reflects the changing landscape of Bijapur, where a reduction in Maoist violence and ongoing development efforts are yielding positive outcomes in education. Bijapur Collector Vishwadeep stated, 'Nine students from our district have cleared the NEET examination.'
District Education Officer Rajesh Pandey mentioned that 25 students participated in the NEET re-examination held on June 21, which included 21 regular students from the 12th-grade biology stream and four repeat candidates.
The results were announced on July 16, revealing that among the successful candidates, five belong to Scheduled Tribes (ST), three to Scheduled Castes (SC), and one to Other Backward Classes (OBC). Most of the students' parents work as farmers or daily wage laborers.
Among the successful candidates, Siddharth Durgam achieved the highest score with 482 out of 720. Other successful candidates include Champa Poyami (352), Arun Todem (339), Tejesh Durgam (294), Sameer Lakra (241), Kursham Jitendra (240), Devide Durgam (213), Humeswar Devangan (213), and Ganesh Kumar Vachham (179). Champa Poyami, a resident of Sankanpalli village, credited her success to her teachers and parents.
She expressed, 'Our teachers guided us at every step, and we studied accordingly. Students should focus on their goals and work hard. I owe my success in NEET to both my teachers and parents.'
