SOLAN: A significant explosion occurred near the Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, raising urgent security alarms. In response, the government has assigned the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A specialized team from the NIA arrived from Chandigarh to conduct a thorough examination of the site before officially assuming control of the inquiry.
Initial assessments indicate that the explosives used in the blast and the debris found at the scene do not correspond with those typically associated with common criminal activities. Officials noted that this discrepancy was crucial in classifying the incident as sensitive, warranting a detailed investigation by the central agency.
As per police reports, the explosion took place around 9:40 AM behind the storage area of the Nalagarh police station, causing widespread alarm in the vicinity. The blast resulted in shattered glass in the storage area and damaged windows in a nearby structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
Immediately following the explosion, the area was secured, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was summoned to gather samples and evidence. Several police units have also been assigned to review CCTV footage from the surrounding locations to identify any suspicious activity before or after the incident.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, the Nalagarh police are collaborating with the Punjab Police and other central agencies. A case has been filed at the Nalagarh police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosive Substances Act. Investigators are exploring all potential leads and are closely monitoring the situation as the investigation unfolds.
