Charges Filed by NIA in Terrorism Case

New Delhi, August 7 - The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet against two individuals on Friday. These suspects are allegedly involved in a cross-border terrorist conspiracy linked to the smuggling of IEDs, weapons, and heroin through the India-Pakistan border. The plot also included plans to target a passenger train among other locations.

According to an official statement from the NIA, the chargesheet was filed in a special NIA court located in Mohali, naming Shubham Kumar, who has already been arrested, and the absconding Jasveer Chaudhary as accused. This case was registered by the Amritsar-based State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) following Kumar's arrest in February 2026. Authorities recovered an active improvised explosive device (IED) stored in a metal container, a foreign-made .30 bore pistol along with a magazine, 20 cartridges, a mobile phone, and heroin from Kumar's possession.
