New Delhi, Jul 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially named Hafiz Saeed, the leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a suspect in its supplementary chargesheet concerning the Pahalgam terror incident.

In the chargesheet submitted to the NIA special court in Jammu, the agency has implicated Saeed both in his personal capacity and as the head of the banned organization LeT, along with its active affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), as stated in an NIA announcement.

According to the statement, "The NIA is actively investigating the case to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan, which has been persistently supporting terrorism on Indian territory from across the border."

Saeed faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. He is also accused of waging war against India and conspiring from abroad, as detailed in the chargesheet.

This supplementary chargesheet builds upon the original 1,597-page document, outlining Pakistan's conspiracy, Saeed's involvement, and the evidence gathered by the NIA through thorough scientific investigation and fieldwork.

Previously, on December 15, 2025, the NIA had identified Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt as an accused, along with three terrorists who were killed during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two others who were arrested.

The NIA has also charged the banned LeT/TRF organization as a legal entity for its involvement in planning, facilitating, and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.

The tragic incident in Pahalgam on April 22 last year resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local individual, all victims of the Pakistan-backed terrorists.

Initially, an FIR was filed at the Pahalgam police station. Following preliminary investigations, the case was handed over to the NIA by the Union Home Ministry.
