Significant Breakthrough in Pahalgam Terror Case

In a major development regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended two individuals accused of sheltering the terrorists responsible for the deadly assault in South Kashmir. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 26 people, primarily tourists, with an additional 16 individuals suffering serious injuries. The suspects have been identified as Parvez Ahmed Jothar from Batkot and Bashir Ahmed Jothar from Hill Park in Pahalgam.


Details of the Arrest

According to the NIA, the arrested individuals disclosed the identities of three armed terrorists involved in the attack, confirming their links to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and that they were Pakistani nationals. The investigation revealed that Parvez and Bashir knowingly provided shelter to the three terrorists in a seasonal hut at Hill Park prior to the attack. They supplied food, shelter, and logistical support to the attackers, who targeted tourists based on their religious identity, making this one of the most horrific terrorist incidents to date.


Ongoing Investigation

The NIA has arrested both individuals under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, as part of the ongoing investigation into the case registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU following the shocking attack on April 22, 2025. The agency continues to pursue leads in this case, which has already seen several breakthroughs, marking this arrest as one of the most significant in identifying the terrorists behind the attack.
