Significant Development in Delhi Blast Investigation
In a crucial turn of events regarding the Delhi blast incident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. This marks the ninth arrest linked to the case. Authorities believe that the suspect is closely associated with Umar-un-Nabi, the alleged suicide bomber responsible for the attack. Following his arrest, the individual was presented in Patiala House Court on Thursday. After hearing arguments related to the case, the court ordered that he be remanded into NIA custody until December 26. Notably, the suspect was brought to court under tight security measures.
Extended Custody for Additional Suspects
Earlier this week, the Patiala House Court extended the custody of Dr. Bilal Nasir Malla and Shoaib, who were arrested in connection with the Red Fort blast case, until December 19. Both suspects were presented to the NIA after their custody period had lapsed. The principal district and sessions judge (special NIA judge) approved the extension of their detention, which was conducted in a closed hearing.
Overview of the Delhi Blast Incident
The explosion that occurred in Delhi on November 10 resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals and left over two dozen injured. The blast was executed using a Hyundai i20 car driven by the alleged suicide bomber, Umar-un-Nabi. The NIA has identified him through forensic investigations and has seized another vehicle linked to him. Umar was reportedly a resident of Pulwama and served as an assistant professor in the General Medicine department at Al-Falah University in Faridabad.
Ongoing Multi-Agency Investigation
Efforts to gather evidence related to the case are ongoing, with the NIA examining the vehicle involved in the blast. So far, the agency has interrogated 73 witnesses, including those injured in the explosion. The NIA continues its investigation in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and various allied agencies.
