NIA Takes Action Against Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended a significant associate involved in aiding members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to flee the country using counterfeit passports. This information was disclosed by officials on Friday.


According to the authorities, Rahul Sarkar, who was managing the gang's passport operations, has been arrested. The special court of the agency located at Patiala House in New Delhi has remanded Sarkar into NIA custody for further investigation.


Officials revealed that the accused was responsible for arranging fake passports for gang members, facilitating their escape after committing crimes.


A statement released by the investigation agency indicated that among those assisted by Sarkar was Sachin Thapan, also known as Sachin Thapan Bishnoi, who is the primary suspect in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022.


Sarkar's arrest is part of the NIA's investigation into a case registered in August 2022 under the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This case pertains to a conspiracy involving criminal gangs recruiting youths for fundraising and executing criminal activities.
