New Delhi, July 21: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that residents living within a 20-kilometer radius of designated toll plazas can now acquire a local pass digitally via the Rajmargyatra mobile application. This pass allows for unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza for an entire month.

Previously, commuters had to physically visit the toll plaza and provide documentation to prove their eligibility. The new digital system streamlines this process, enabling completion in just a few minutes.

According to NHAI's statement released on Monday, the newly launched ‘local pass’ feature allows eligible users to obtain a toll pass digitally without needing to visit the toll plaza.

The first implementation of this digital local toll pass is at the Mundka – Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi, with plans to expand to additional toll plazas nationwide in the near future.

This initiative utilizes consent-based integration with various government digital platforms, such as DigiLocker and Vahan, to automatically access verified information regarding the commuter’s address, vehicle registration number, and linked FASTag.

Eligibility for the local pass is confirmed through GIS-based verification, which eliminates the need for manual documentation, thereby enhancing user convenience while ensuring transparency and accuracy.

In addition to the local pass, NHAI has introduced the ‘MargMitra’ Help Centre, an intelligent digital assistance platform integrated within the Rajmargyatra app.

‘MargMitra’ serves as a comprehensive interface for national highway users, allowing them to access information, request assistance, and file grievances through an easy-to-use conversational interface.

Users can communicate their queries, feedback, or complaints in any of the 22 Indian languages, and the platform will provide relevant information or direct them to the appropriate service. The help centre offers immediate assistance on various services, including FASTag recharges, KYC requirements, refund statuses, and both annual and local pass services.

NHAI encourages national highway users to download the Rajmargyatra app available on both Android and iOS platforms to take advantage of the extensive range of digital services aimed at making highway travel safer, smarter, and more convenient.
