The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has revealed that New Zealand and South Africa will be the hosts for the upcoming fourth edition of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup for both women's and men's tournaments. The champions of these events will earn a chance to compete in the 2026-27 season of the FIH Hockey Pro League.

Men's Nations Cup Scheduled in Cape Town

Cape Town, South Africa, is set to welcome the men's Nations Cup, featuring elite teams such as South Africa, New Zealand, France, Korea, Japan, Wales, Malaysia, and Scotland, who gained promotion through the FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2. Ireland will also participate after being relegated from the 2024-25 FIH Hockey Pro League. This tournament will take place from June 11 to 20, 2026, marking the return of the competition to South Africa, which previously hosted the inaugural men's edition in Potchefstroom in 2022.

Women's Nations Cup to be Held in Auckland

The women's Nations Cup is scheduled for Auckland, New Zealand, from June 15 to 21, 2026. Competing teams include the host nation New Zealand, the USA, Japan, Korea, Chile, Scotland, and France, who were promoted through the FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2. India will also compete after being relegated from the 2024-25 FIH Hockey Pro League.

History and Significance of the Competition

Launched in 2021, the FIH Hockey Nations Cup aims to provide a premier platform for top-ranked teams not involved in the FIH Hockey Pro League, allowing the winning team the opportunity for promotion in the subsequent season. India, Spain, and New Zealand have claimed victory in the first three editions of the women's tournament, while South Africa and New Zealand have dominated the men's competition.
